We have a new 2 person "company" moving into our office.

We have a MICS XL 1.0 (Rel 1) and an older Startalk Flash 4 port VM.

We use the AA for our 8 incoming lines, which plays a greeting and prompts the caller to enter the extension etc...

We need the 2 new lines independant of our existing system, if they ring only to their 2 phones and only zero out to their VM or each other (or no zero out) that would be ok.

Can this be done? Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes this can be done except for the zero out. Your voicemail has a 2nd Auto Attendant. Company B can have their own greetings which can be programmed to answer only their lines. The system can be programmed so that only those lines can ring and appear on those phones which need them. All internal features would work the same including calling this person or persons internally. There is only one 0 option available and I imagine your receptionist is probably your 0 out extension. Anyone hitting 0 from the Auto Attendent(Main Greeting) or from within a personal mailbox even if the option was not there, will ring the extension who was assigned to be the operator or go directly to the General Mailbox depending on the way it was programmed.
I hope this helps!! I can give you more info if needed emailme if you would like.

If there phones are programmed to only have the 2 new lines ring to them. No where else. The what you are saying will work. If yoiu do not want them going to voice mail then do not forward phone to vm extension. If you want them to go to voice mail forward to voice mail and make sure thehave amailbox built for them. But if you allow they cano out tot he operator.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely, thephoneboy

Depending on Flash version you may be able to set a target attendant within your personal mbox by pressing 5 after you log into your mbox. That will take care of your zero out issue

Never seen a target attendant programmable by user with any version of Flash.....only Norstar Voicemail or Call Pilot.
However if you set up Greeting Table 2 for your new company you can assign the greeting table target attendant wherever you like for that company. Only one general delivery mailbox though. These instructions are in the Flash set up and operations guide chapter 3...."setting up a greeting table

Thanks for all your help, I will try these suggestions out this weekend if I get over this cold I caught by then.
Thanks again-

Thanks again for the tips.

I started on this today. I will have company A use greeting table 1 greetings 1-4 and company B use greeting table 2 greetings 5-8.

Having the zero out go to our receptionist is not so good though, is there a "back-out" or transfer option once you are in a person's voicemail? (For example * 8 like on Avaya) So callers could transfer to the other person instead of zero'ing.

We needed to upgrade our Startalk from 2 to 4 ports, is there an easier way to figure out if all 4 ports are working than just having 4 phones at one time call their VM?

Lastly, the new company brought in 2 new phone lines, our 8 lines are 1-4 and 25-28 I beleive. Now their lines will be on the first card of the 12x0, what line numbers will they be?

Forgive me if my questions are too novice, it has been alittle while since I did much more than add or delete extensions/VM boxes on this system. Thanks again for any help.

HI MELBS1;
i APOLOGIZE FOR NOT BEING AROUND LATELY AND i HOPE YOUR PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN SOLVED. i HAVE BEEN IN THIS BUSINESS FOR 8 YEARS AND JUST STARTED MY OWN BUSINESS 4.5 MONTHS AGO. IT HAS TAKEN OFF LIKE WILD FIRE AND I HAVE NOT HAD MUCH CHANCE TO BE ON FORUM. SORRY

Thanks Tel Lady, I had it all working just fine until a crazy lightning storm last night seems to have wiped out ALL programming on the Startalk, so I will be reprogramming and re-recording greetings all night tonight...fun.

Thanks again to everyone on here.
