Hi guys... trying to add 2 408ATL cards in the last 2 slots of a legend 1-cab system. After doing a board renumber, the cards don't work... I get the message "card mismatch or slot empty" from system/slot inventory. This from the system programming phone. I set up WinSPM 9 to use the "Boards" option there to add the boards, but the 408ATL card isn't on the list. This was a free Avaya download, but I cant find an earlier full version to download. These people upgraded from an old 820 and don't want to give up their BIS phones which seem to last forever. The system has a 012TR card which win spm displays as an option card. Question: How do I get the system to recognize the 2 new 408ATL cards which currently don't function and show up as being only in "standby" mode? Thanks for you suggestions in advance. Going Crazy!

Are you sure this is a legend and not a magix? When you do an Inventory, what does it say for processor? The ATL cards do not migrate over to Magix. Originally, these old 408 cards were for the Merlin 11 (two) while they did migrate over to the Legends and worked well with the early processors they were replaced for the later versions because of problems.

you're right... magix 4 v7 and thank you... my background is 1A2 antique equipment so it never occurred to me when they said they had a legend system to see if it was legend or magix. is this a software or hardware matter, I mean, can this be backward programmed with legend software? if not, I'll have to keep their old 820 in service to feed 8 ATL extensions for them. this is not good. [mad]

You can always replace the magix processor w/ a legend 6.0 10.0 which will support your ATL cards and BIS sets. This would solve your compatibilty issue for now. It seems alittle counter productive to do that. Other issues will arise like Caller ID, which will only work with the 800 line cards and not the 408 cards.

Well, it would be counter productive, but I would opt for a RELEASE 7 Legend, instead of the R6. Is this thing working with any ATL sets now?

Of course it shouldn't be, so they would have to either "Downgrade" to the Legend, or purchase new phones. I fully understand about the longevity of the ATL Sets. You can't kill'em with a stick!

1A2, just seeing you post that brings back a TON of fond memories. I used to be a "Walking" repairman in Downtown Dallas, many years ago, and that was all I ever worked on. Back then, I never thought I'd be sitting at my desk fixing Systems all over the country with my Computer. Oh well......

this all depends on what boards are working now, if you can downgrade to a R7, then you may have the same trouble with the magix boards

Because the processor is a final release Merlin Magix, I would suggest augmenting with a pair of 412 TDL or 408 MLX boards and forget the ATL boards and sets.

Yes the early membrane Merlin set were a problem , but like Merlin man said you just can't kill a Merlin BIS , I have some still working out there from the early 90's at a couple of car dealers in the parts & repair shop , the MLX sometimes need to be replaced , I can't remember the last time I replaced a BIS set
