New customer in a shared tennant site. They have a 7324 and two existing CAPs. I tried to add a 3rd CAP because and the third would take. I checked the 6 pair cable and that looks ok. When I connected the new cable the 1st CAP starting clicking over and over.

Any suggestions? Or do you have an install manual for the CAP?

BTW the current cabling is from 7324 to 1st CAP then 2nd CAP to station cable back to KSU.

Ok. I read that you coud add up to 5. Is that for the KIMS's on a T7316?

Up to five per system with lines appearing on them; only two on a particular set.

2 Caps on a 7324 sounds right too me. This is not something that I know for sure but I have seen a lot of 7324 sets & have never seen more than 2 caps.

How the hell are you running Shared Tenant Service on a Norstar. You better not Telco find out

Thanks for the info..

Why would hte Telco care about shared tennant services?

If you are in the States, first the switch has to be registered with Telco as a Tenant Switch. Second the tenants are restricted from dial each other through the switch, they must dial out with the full number.
These are only a few of the things that govern Tenant Switches

Basically you are completing against the Local Telco's, so they went out and these rules drawn up with the PSC. I worked for one of the largest Shared Tenant Companies in the U.S. and we had to register each building that we at a switch in.

Do they call the phone police or call in the military to blow the building up if somebody breaks the rules?Sorry I know this has nothing to do with the 7324 cap post but I find this hard to believe. I thought this is what deregulation was all about?

Please note on these forums people will express there opinion on law, you must investigate yourself to your jurisdiction.
Here in Canada we dont give a shit.
I sort of see the law but sorry, if both companies pay for their own lines then too bad mr communist.

2 CAPS per M7324 phone.
9 KIMs per T7316e (after 4 you need power supply).

This site wants to show indicators for both the loop lines and the Nortel station sets that is why they wanted to add another CAP. SOme of the tennants have 2 and three loop lines and some have two and three ext. sets.

I guess if push comes to shove the best decision would be to just show the Nortel station sets and not display the loop lines.

I've got to agree with the others, perrypj. The telco is getting paid for their pots from each of the tenants. What do they care if they go to one phone system.

Are you specifically talking about a PRI for tenant service?

In Michigan, I'm not aware of ANY restrictions on that either.

no pri has nothing to do with it

Then trust me, the CO doesn't care. They're getting paid. The equipment a building maintains makes NO difference to them.

Muzak has pushed a similar "legal" issue to businesses in my area to sell their product. They claim using a radio for their music on hold violates copyright laws, quoting Napster lawsuits.

The radio stations I've talked to (some of them are my customers) are happy to have people listening to them, regardless of the media format.
