Hi everyone,
I am going to swap a client's 4x0 trunk module for a 0x32 station module on a BCM 400, and I think it's pretty starightforward, but I was wondering if there are any important steps that I should know....

Thanks!

Of course ....
If the station module is a 32+, make sure you are adding it to a double density bus. By default this would be 2-5, 6 and 7, by default, are single density.
Make sure you option the DIP switches properly for the bus you want the module to reside on.
You will then need to log into configuration and set the bus type to station module.
That's all there is to it!

HTH!

Ouch....brain freeze....this is my first BCM; I'm very experienced on Norstar, but this is where I'm a moron. I'm installing the module on the second slot from the top....and what do I set the dip switches to?

Thanks!

Hey Trev ...
No sweat. We all had our first at sometime.

The slots have no bearing on the bus. Bus is similar to an expansion port on the Norstar. On the Norstar we make this connection with a fiber cable. On the BCM the connection is virtual and we assign/connect to the bus using the DIP switches on the back of the module.

Like I said ... first thing to determine is what bus the current module is on. You can do that by powering down the BCM, pulling the module, and looking at the DIP switch programming.

Check the install guide for tables showing DIP switch settings and associated buses.

Hey SupportDude, I can't seem to find the part in the manual about this....there seem to be 8 busues in the BCM and the Physical BCM is as follows : Top slot- DTI, Second slot: new 0x32, Third slot: existing 0x32, bottom slot: ASM

When i connect to the new 0x32, it uses the same DN's and ports as the existing 0x32, and down the other phone....

What am I doing wrong with the DIP switches?

Thanks!

Allrigty then:
DTI - top slot - Dip 6 off
0x32 - Second slot - Unconfigured (the new one)
0x32 - Third slot - Dip 1 off
ASM - bottom slot - Dip 6 off

IN BCM UM:

Bus 01 - Sation Module - 7 sets (IP im guessing)
Bus 02 - Station Module - 26 Sets (existing 0x32)
Bus 03 - Analog Station Module - 8 sets
Bus 04 - Station Module - Unequipped
Bus 05 - Station Module - Unequipped
Bus 06 - Station Module - Unequipped
Bus 07 - Trunk Module - 1 module - 1 port busy (The DTI)
Bus 08 - Data Module - Unequipped

I hope that covers it!

Thanks!

I would set the switch settings to the following assigning the module to Bus 4.
Switch 1 to 6 being off/on/on/on/off/on.
Hope this helps?

DTI - top slot - Dip 6 off (you it set to BUS3)

I would chang this one to Dip 4&5 off making it Bus7, you can't have 2 different Mods on the same BUS

-------------------------------------------------------

0x32 - Second slot - Unconfigured (the new one) I would set this one to Dip 5 off Bus 4

-------------------------------------------------------
0x32 - Third slot - Dip 1 off (you it set to BUS2)
I would make this one Dip1&6 off Bus 3

ASM - bottom slot - Dip 6 off (you it set to BUS3)
I would make this one Dip 4 off Bus4

Is changing the dip's on the other modules (most likely) going to change they're port and cionsquently, DN's?

Hummmmmm...

Thanks!

That's no good, I can't do that....I guess I'll set it to bus 4?

My head hurts...
