Hi,

I added a new hard drive to the existing RAID 5 on a IBM xseries 346 server. I used ServerRAID management to add the new drive to the logical volume pool. I see the migrating process is going, then I restarted the server.
I then check the size after the server booted up and seeing the size has not increased. The new hard drive I added to the server are same model as those already in the server and the new drive blinking green light. I am using RedHat 5, and not sure if I need to do anything on the OS to see the new size?

Please help!!!

Harry

hi,
what you have done is correct, but not enough.

Go in Windows Disk Management: how many disks do you see ?
Is this RAID5 the unique volume in server ? (contains C: partition)

In the disk you'll se a zone (at the end) not partitioned.

If the raid5 does not contain C part, it's easy:
use diskpart (see well doc) and "extend" partition.

If it contains C: partition, conceptually is the same,
but you cannot do this on a mounted partition:
you have to boot from a CD, with inside tools to extend partitions. You can use BartPE or others.

bye
