I've add an extra 256meg to my ultra 10. Now the total ram is 386 odd meg both using the same speed(50ns).
But still there is no improvment in the performance.
Netscape take a while to startup, movie playback is still slow, and forte for java still crawles most of the time.

I've incresed ny swap to 2gig.

Is there anything else I can do.

thanks

What are you running ?
What version of the OS are you running?
etc etc etc

Movie playback will also be a function of the video card AFAIR so think there also...

Download proctools form sunfreeware.com, This tool might help you find out what the bottleneck is.
You can also use top to find out which process is taking the CPU if the problem is cpu bound which I doubt.
In any case an ultra 10 sould run netscape and other program quite fast.
Did you apply all the latest patches for your OS ?

the specs are 333Mhz(2meg cache), 386meg, 9gb(7200rpm), and the normal 24bit ati rage pro graphics chip.

I'm running a fresh install of solaris 8.
I've also tried netscape 6.01a. Now that is dog slow.
For movie playback i'm using mtv(XIL version) and showmetv.

Stay away from netscpae 6.01, it is very slow on all platforms. The fact that it is a full java version may explain it.
Netscape claims 6.1 is much faster but I have not tried it yet.
Try running 4.77 and see if the performance improves, I know it will, just dont know how much.
