Hi Guys,

OS=Windows XP Pro Version 2002 (build 2600)

While in the Windows Explorer, I noticed that some files has Version (tab on properties) comments added underneath the filename.

Can someone tell me of a good program to implant information like these into ANY filenames?

I like to ADD/Change comments (version tab on Properties)
on any file...

Thanks,

Mark Geer

The version tab gets its information from the compiled file/executable which is provided at compile time by the programmer.

You may have notuced that file properties in XP also have a Custom Tab. You can put whatever you like in/on those fields.

This new tab may be able to be addressed programatically. I would check the latest API for Windows and/or their lastest language releases for VB or C++.
The two rules for success are:
1. Never tell them everything you know.

For many files (such as .TXT and many many others) you can simply right-click, select Properties, and on the Summary tab add a lot of information.

For example I added a "Comment" to a text file just now and it shows up right on the tooltip that pops up when I hover the mouse over the file in Windows Explorer.
