What is the differences between adding a user via Active Directory versus adding a user in System Manager?

If there are any.

In System Manager, it's easier to use templates, and to setup a workstation for the user.

I recently started having a problem where I can no longer add users through system management.

When I add a user I get an error message stating that the home directory couldn't be added and the quotas could not be set. I am then asked if I want to keep the user.

Any suggestions on what I could look for to solve this issue?

Have you ensured your server is fully updated? also have you changed any of ther permissions on the shares or moved home folders etc.
