Hi all,

We have an SBS2003 domain that has a branch office. The main office has the SBS2003 server while the branch office is running server 2003 with exchange 2003. Since the branch office has been put in place the Add user wizard has started to default new users' exchange mailbox location at the brantch office. I can't see how it's making this selection (unless it chooses the exchange server based on alphabetic order) and am baffled as to why it's changed. Does anyone know why this change has occured and if they do do they know how to change it back?

Many thanks.

I think that you're right about the alphabetic order thing. The folks who built the SBS Console didn't think about the possibility that there might be multiple Exchange servers in the organization, and this is what you ended up with.

I don't have a solution for you, but I'm thinking that since mailboxes are small at creation, you could always do a "move mailbox" operation after creating a user if you want that user's mailbox to live on the SBS box... But you know that already.

Hi,

Found an article on the SBS Blog about adding exch 2007 into an sbs2003 domain and it said that about the add user wizard "The Add User Wizard will not ask you which Exchange to create a new mailbox on, it will pick one for you".

Hmm. Nice work MS!!!! I'm guessing this situation is the same with adding a second exch 2003 server too. I just can't see it being as simple as "it will pick one for you". There must be a way around this!!! Grrr!!!!
