Currently our main server is running Small Business server with SQL2000. The company that provides our reservation system provides two options in house or hosted. My dilemma is this; we host our reservation system in house and the database resides on the server mentioned above in SQL 2000. We purchased another company a few months ago and they run the same reservation system although it is hosted by the software company and the database is on a SQL 2005 server. We are at a point where we want to merge the reservation systems and need to move the hosted database to our own server so we can make reservations in one system. Although not impossible downgrading the SQL 2005 database is not really a good option so I am adding a stand alone SQL 2005 server to our environment and will move both databases onto it. In this scenario how do I go about moving the SQL 2000 DB to the SQL 2005 server? Back up and Restore? Any special considerations I need to be aware of? Thank you

Build the standalone server as SQL 2k, restore the DB and then upgrade the standalone server to SQL 2k5.
