A little-known Billings company that brokers loads for independent truckers and moves oil rigs is quietly churning $100
million in revenue per year, most of that money being made out of state. For nearly 30 years, Meadowlark Agency LLC has
operated what amounts to a high-volume, high-dollar call center, now employing 80 at a headquarters tucked back in the trees
at 935 Lake Elmo Drive. Three decades ago, after changing jobs 12 times in 13 years, Rick Jones and his wife, Donna Jones,
started their own business. “I wanted to run an honest company,” he said. In 1983, Jones laid a card table down with two
cardboard file cabinets and started dialing for dollars on his own. “I really like the game as I call it: high-speed suck
up,” Jones said. “I’ve got 30 seconds to get under their skin and get them to trust me.” <a
