Add/Remove Programs list empty 1

The list of programs as usually appears is not there, the window just sits there, empty.
Unticking the show updates does nothing.
XP Pro, SP2, all updated.
I don't use system restore, and this has been around for a while anyway.

You can try this Registry fix.

Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and cycle through each registry key. If an entry has a DisplayIcon string with a "-1" value, set this to "0".

None of the items have an entry like that listed. i picked one at random and added a key, with 0 as the value.
Restarted computer and the list is populated again! magic!
