In a previous post (thread701-452056) I raised this question but had no reply.

I have a database which updates multiple databases with usernames. One of the databases is password protected and its causing me problems as I have to keep going in and doing this one manually.

I need to remove the password protection (not using the full Access Security feature) from a database file using code so I can add a record to a table within it. All this is done from another database using an append query.

Any comments would be appreciated

Thanks

Craig

Hi Craig,

Can you give some more detail on how this db is "password protected (not using the full Access Security feature)"?

I never use the built-in Access security features -- Not paranoid enough to make it worthwhile! [bigears] I usually use pseudo security, requiring users to login or just reading their system login ID to determine data access permissions.

Anyway, if you can provide more detail I'll try to help.

Hi Ken,

I have used the password option avaialble by choosing Save As... on the file menu and clicking options. So I guess really its the file that is password protected and not the database.

I find the full access security feature a bit of a pain, plus I dont really have a need for it.

Within my databases I where it is neccessary to protect forms etc, I put them behind a password form where the password is hard coded in to the forms class module.

Thanks for your help

Craig
