Hello all,

I'm new to phone system programming. New job, new responsibilities. We have a R1.0 V6.0 Merlin system. I need to add a second operators phone. Currently we have a QCC on slot 1/port 1, and I just added a DLC at slot 10/port 13 on a 024 TDL card. Here are my questions:

1. What are the advantages/disadvantages of using QCC or DLC?

2. If using a DLC, will the calls queue on a 4424D+ ?

3. If I go QCC, can I use the 4424D+ phone?

I'm trying get as much done as I can before I call our outside tech, but this needs to be up and running by Tuesday. Any help is appreciated.

I HATE QCCs.

QCCs are used when you absolutely have all calls answered by an OPERATOR, AND you have more than 26 (or so) lines.

In this day and age, with D-I-D and stuff, a QCC being required is RARE.

The main difference is the QCC Console can have NO CUSTOM PROGRAMMING hardly at all.

Its features and other button assignments are CAST IN STONE, and it is quite like a console on a Definity or other LARGE PBX.

A DLC, on the other hand can be customized with all kinds of features on buttons, but its limitation is with the total number of lines which can be assigned to it.

(18 for an MLX 20 and 26 for an MLX 28)

I have SEVERAL SYSTEMS that I have implemented recently with NO LINES assigned to the console at all.

My advice is this:

If you do not ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO HAVE A QCC, avoid it at all costs.
