Okay, I have Apache (1.3.23) up and running, with SSL and MySQL. But I need to add php support as well. I have downloaded the source files (php-4.1.1.tar.gz) from php.net, and extracted them to a directory on the Caldera Linux server.

I also am stuck using Webmin for the interaction with the server, but I can use a command line with webmin.

What I am looking for is a simple step-by-step configuration. I am typically a Windows user, and I got php installed and working on the W2k server no problem, but this has me stumped. If it helps, the current directories are as follows:

.tar.gz - /temp
Apache - /usr/local/apache

Thanks SO much in advance!

Is this your own server, or is it a hosting providers server?
The reason I ask is that you only have webmin access...

If it is a provider's server, you may be SOL ...

Otherwise, grab a caldera prepackaged version of PHP and install it that way :)

It's our own server here at this company, but I'm relatively new here, so I don't have a whole lot of permissions on the Linux boxes, being an NT pro and all. I already gave up though, and called in someone who knows what they're doing.

SOmetimes the best idea... but always look over their shoulder to learn ... then you can do it too :)

Yeah, actually, I'm a little upset about when then came in and added SSL, because I wanted to do exactly that, and then the kid came in on a Saturday! But thanks for the advice.
