The procedure I have used in the past is 1. Label Media, 2. Quick Erase and then it's usually in the media pool. I have some brand new tapes that when I go to Label Media it just sits there. I don't think it's bad tapes. Is there any other way to get around this?

Thanks for all the help in the past.........

Tried inventory. Tried catalog too. Still the same result in that the job just sits there and does nothing.

Do ANY jobs run at all? Have you tried stopping and restarting backup services? Or stopping backup services, power-cycling the tape drive (if it is a separate unit), and starting backup services again? Or if it is not a separate unit, try rebooting the entire machine?

Tried stopping and restarting the BE services and nothing. The server does a scheduled reboot everynight at 0300. I've uninstalled the tape drive and reinstalled it. The backup jobs run fine it's just nothing else seems to.

What are you using for drivers?

Are you using the TAPE DEVICE drivers or Veritas' drivers?

I suggest loading the Veritas install disk and selecting REPAIR. See if that helps.
