Please excuse my ignorance, but I'm having problems trying to set up an SGI wkstn to a network plotter.
I know that the plotter works because it was originally connected directly to an SGI wkstn.
An external JetDirect (300x) was installed to the DesignJett 600 Plotter and configured on the network.
-Added the ip address & name of the plotter in the /etc/hosts file of the SGI
-Went into Print Manager to "Add Printer",
-selected "Remote Host"
-set remote server to NOT SGI
Remote Printer Name = raw
The printer is added, but when I try to do a test print
or do a #lp -d<printer_name> <filename>, or open a drawing, go to File -> Print, then enter lp -d<printer_name>, but nothing prints.
Any suggestions?

Try 'ping <printer_name>', is the connection ok?
Try 'lpstat -t', can you see the printer and it's status?
Do you get any response when using lp -d command?
(Like 'UX:lp: destination <printer_name> non-existent')
What is the format of your print file, text, postscript...?

Just some questions to start with...
