We have a loadbalancer with a T1 and a DSL lines. Our DNS is hosted by Network Solutions. MX record is pointing to the T1 ip.
Last night T1 went down, and messed up Exchange communications. Our DSL line also has a static ip address. Can I just add an additional mx record pointing to the DSL ip with a higher priority, and create another port forwarding entry in the router? Or is there something else I should be aware of?

Just make sure that the route the inbound DSL traffic goes through is the same - backup MX records are serious spam targets. So, if you have some messaging hygiene appliance in place, make sure the DSL traffic goes through that as well.

Technically it should go through the same route. We have GFI Mail Essensials running on the Exchange box. We added an additional port forwarding entry to the loadbalancer to point to the Exchange server. Mail hits either T1 or the DSL router, goes to the loadbalancer, and gets forwarder to the Exchange server's GFI.
Thank you for your helpful replies.
