I have a spreasheet with pipe sizes and lengths. The pipe sizes are entered as they are encountered, and the lengths are indicated in the column adjacent to the size. I would like to summarize the total length per size in another part of the same sheet. Can this be done without a pivot table?

[tt]
Pipe Size Pipe Length
--------- -----------
3/8" 20
1" 40
2" 2
3/8" 5
1 1/2" 10
3/8" 7
1" 5[/tt]

[tt]
Pipe Length Summary: 3/8" 32
1" 45
2" 2[/tt]

etc.

Thanks!!

Hi,

You have an inventory of cut sized, where you want to calculate the total available lenths.

How about the SUMIF function? Use the Advanced Filter - UNIQUE values to generate the list of sizes.

You could also use MS Query to sum the lengths.
