Hi,

I'm using Accpac 5.5.
In some countries, i.e. Chile we are charged with an additional fuel tax when purchasing fuel.
This tax however is no fixed percentage.
What would be the best way of enabling users to enter a verying tax amount to a PO?
I'm thinking of creating an tax class with 0%. This way Accpac won't calculate a tax but the user can still enter a tax manually.
Would that work or is there a better way of doing it?

A misc charge or non-stock item could also be used in this case.

Thanks for your reply.
The fuel we purchase is a non stock item.
I've been thinking, instead of adding the tax to the vendor I could add it to the non stock item, but whatever I do I cannot get this tax authority to show under the item.
Can I not add an additional tax authority to an item which then shows up on the PO as well?

In order to get a new authority to appear you'd have to have a new tax group that includes that authority. The biggest challenge is that you can't change the tax rate directly. You can change the tax amount and reverse calculate the rate.

If you have optional fields you could add an optional field to enter the fuel tax rate and make that appear on the Crystal form where you want it to appear.

You could create a large number of tax groups to cover your needs. That's how the tax compliance software packages handle the hundreds and hundreds of tax configurations that can be encountered. That, however, becomes a job in and of itself to maintain.
