Add Field to Form from Different Table

I'm sorry I am brain dead. This is probably easy but I have been working all weekend.

I have a form that I want to add a text box that populates from another table than the one the form is based on. I put a text box on the form and in the control source i built an event =table!etc etc

It didnt work.

How can I add a field from another table?

Either use an SQL statement for the text box or create a subform with a different recordsource
