Just wondering if anyone has any idea how long it will take to restripe the RAID 5 array when I add 3 73 Gb drives to an existing 5 disk RAID 5 array . I have already installed the drives physically and formatted them to be pdisks

Thanks
Norm

Unless the system if very busy, it will probably take an hour. Also depends on processor speed, RAID card, cache etc. I would not do it during any copies or backup.

Thanks, that's helpful . Backups will be done by that time and hopefully there will be very little activity to none when I am doing this as I aim to create a nologin file in /etc after I log in a couple of times as root
