In Access, I want to ADD records to an existing table from Dbase IV. Everytime I go thru the import process Access creates a new table from the Dbase file. I have the existing table open, but cannot get Acess to ADD records from the dbase file into it.
How, exactly, are you trying to ADD records from the dbase file?
John Vogel
john@computerwiz.net
<a href=
It should be LIVE 1/12/00 or before. I would appreciate suggestions, comments and the like. Please go look and help. Thanks.
Find it, I find the Dbase file and ckick on it.
MS Access says successfully imported, it made a new file called greast3, but I wanted the file added to an existing table called table3.
When I import a file, I use the following procedure:
On the menubar I choose:
File
Get External Data
Import
I find the file and select it and then answer the Import Wizard's question. One of the screens asks whether or not I want to add the records to a new table or an existing table. Does this not happen for you?
Does this only happen for text files and not for Dbase files?
The problem turns out to be an AutoNumber field in my Access table with an Index set to NoDuplicates. Once I turned off the Index, I did finally get the screen that ask's "Do you want to add to an existing table". Thanks Rochelle. Your help appreciated.
