I have a working windows Ethernet home network running: Two Win 2k Pro machines and one 98se machine working thru a 4 port Ethernet hub.

Want to install cable internet to work with all machines without having one on all the time and do not want the file and print sharing interfered with.

Need help understanding how to do this.

Any help would be appreciated.

you need a cable modem (often provided by the ISP) and a router. enable TCP/IP on each PC for the ethernet card if it is not already enabled, configure the router to use whatever default gateway you previously set for the PCs (if the PCs do not already have IP addresses, the router can automatically assign them)

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
