hi,

our site is connected to another site via VPN. Each site has a DC but the DNS server resides at the other site. I would like to make our DC a DNS server in case the other one goes down. am i right to assume that our DNS server is going to be a replicate of the other one? any suggestions on the best/easiest way to do this? thanks.

I assume you have connectivity between the two DCs? If so you can setup a Secondary zone to provide redundancy if the other DNS server is using a Primary zone. Or you can have them both use AD-integrated zones for simpler replication.
