I went through this several times in the last 4 years.
The dealer advice is the best.
I would like to say that Heartland does the best job of supplying all the info you need of the 4 processors I have used.
Now days there usually ends up being some info that has to be put in EDC.ini manually to get some processors to work. Of course I am talking about internet SSL etc not dial
We just switched to First Data and they were terrible especially now that they have all these resellers pushing their accounts
With First Data you need to make sure they set you up on the north platform (at least do not let them use the nashville) Nashville is fine for separate CC terminals but not for EDC
The latest version of EDC may be needed for some
When someone approaches you trying to sell a merchant account I would try to get them to pay for the service call to get it changed.
^^^The last part of that post was the most important.
Just about any time someone asks me about changing processors, I remind the to ask the idiots at the bank to for it. They make enough money skimming off the top, call the dealer, get a price, and then call the processor and tell them what it will cost. They will do it if they want the business bad enough.
I was dealing with ALOHA EDC and First Data Independent Sales and had VERY similar problems
I flat out told them we would not be using their accounts till they helped me and that if they wanted to loose their commissions on several million in credit usage fine.... I would just stick with Heartland...... and I did
This was after a call from the Chief Operations Officer to me asking why we were not using our account after >6 months.
They sent me MID TID info and then actually put me on the phone in a conference call and then alone with the datawire guy. That was when we found out we needed to switch from Nashville to the North platform (cardnet/CES) and had to have datawire reprovisioned for that TID. The nashville platform had a different number of digits in the TID and that would not work with the techs "provisioning code software"
(I think I remember he needed 6 digits not 7)
Another problem we ran into that was fixed by adding a line in a configuration file was a maximum of 250 transactions in a batch Thanks again to whoever it was in this forum that gave me the info to change transaction limit
FYI I find datawire to be less troublesome than SSL and am happier with it but if you have been getting lightning fast batch settlements on another processor be prepared for a 200 transaction batch to take a few minutes to settle
I am currently looking for some assistance from a Micros installer that could assist with the driver and the setup of Datawire in a Micros 3700 system. We are currently on Cardnet North and have Datawire IDs, but the installer on site has never done this install before and is needing assistance.
