add a new card in a passport 8600

I have just taken delivery of a 48 port 10/100 card and an additional 8 port gig card.

Is there a certain way i should install these. Or can i just power down, slot in and power back up.?

no need to power down the box , just insert the cards , make sure to be fully inserted . make sure that u have the recommended power unit , ( for more than 5 cards u need atleast 2 power supplies )

Hi,
You have to contact your resailler to Know how many powers are needed . Normal is 2 and 3 if you have more than 5 cards (depend the type)
It is not necessary to shutdown your chassis. Just check Type of cards (model E or not)
and the soft release nedd 3.1.2.1 for support of new cards.
