How do I add ( or where do I get ) a 3rd ethernet interface to the PIX-515-R?

I looked thru Cisco's site - nothing could be found.

I am assuming that a standard NIC card will not work, right???

You need to purchase an UNRESTRICTED license as below:

PIX 515 Firewall—Restricted to Unrestricted software upgrade. Requires PIX-515-MEM-32
PIX-515-SW-UPG=

No - The PIX515-R is shipped with 2 interfaces standard, but is licensed to have up to 3.
If I wanted to exceed the limit of 3 and expand up to 6, I would then need to purchase the unrestricted license.

I am looking to see if the Ethernet card is proprietary or generic?

It is proprietary. If I am not mistaken the P/N is PIX-1FE. Hope this helps.

You CAN use SOME cards - you have to get a specific chip on the card for it to be supported - we got one from 3Com which was cheap :)

Thanks again -
I found on the Cisco TAC site info about the PIX-1FE and the chipsets - including the non-suported chip.

I also found a number of internet sellers with this card for around $30 - $50.
