I've noticed recently that Adaware SE (v1.06r1) consistently comes up with an error when trying to update its definitions. This happens on existing installations and new ones. I got round this until a couple of weeks ago by copying over the whole of the Lavasoft folder from Programme Files on a still working machine. Won't update any longer now. Are Lavasoft cutting off this older version?

I've tried Adaware 2007, but the free version doesn't appear to allow deletion of unwanted items. I guess "free version" doesn't mean "free cleanup" any more...

I notice that a couple of weeks ago but my Adaware SE started working last week. A problem with their server, I think. Have you gone to their site and tried manually downloading the update?

Thanks James, yes I've downloaded the latest definition file and copied to the appropriate folder, and that appears to function without any message saying it's "out of date" now. Tried the programme's update feature again just now, but still not working.

Any experience of Adaware 2007 ?

Ive used the adaware 2007 and im not too fond of it. A couple weeks ago on here it gave one big wild goose chase on a post. Also it seems they have changed or hidden most of the features I used to tweak in the old one. As far as updating mine has been updating fine, the older version that is. I rarely ever open the new one anymore.

Personally I think this new version sucks and if they are going to charge for it, id rather by spyware doctor.

Anyway that is my thoughts on it lol.

There did seem to be a lot of problems with ADW2007 when it was first released (though none on my system), there have been several updates and it seems to be better now, and has more tweaks than the old one IMHO, but I do mean the free edition.
