I have a usb broadband modem just got a netgear router which requires a network modem so i can log on to the internet is there any low cost adaptor so i can still use my usb modem without having to purchase a network modem

I do not believe it is possible to make a USB modem work on an Ethernet switch, issues such as drivers etc would prevent it from working unless it was designed specifically with certain USB modems in mind (for example "Vigor").

You will need an Ethernet Modem to work with your router.

The only, and messy, solution would be to use ICS on one machine that would have to be on.

The ICS host would have the USB connection to the modem, and an ethernet connection to the router. In order to network the host machine, you would need to create static routes for the HOST, add a second ethernet adapter, or use LMHOSTS.

Messy. And that machine would have to be on for you to have internet access at any other machine.
