Hello. I am having a hard time getting this thing to work with my computer (XP).

Followed the instructions with the device.
When it is installed and windows boots up, it finds the new hardware, and i point it to the diskette created by the CD rom with the drivers to be installed. Once the files are copied over, windows displays a message that says "The Device Cannot Start. Code 10" After a reboot, it shows up in device manager as "working properly" BUT windows detects it as new hardware again. Even if i disable the Second instance of the raid controller in device manager, it still detects it as new hardware after a reboot. I have tried several different drivers from the website, but none change this situation.

1) is the error message " the device cannot start" normal?

2) How do i get windows to not detect the SATA Raid controller each time after a reboot?

At what stage are you in using/installing XP? I ask because normally you insert the SATA drivers during the install of the OS (message: press F6 to install special drivers).

I've occasionally found these types of card don't always ship with the latest, or indeed the correct drivers! Try checking Adaptec's website for a more up-to-date driver...

you know i ended up getting it to work with some drivers off their website. And part of this was my mistake, The raid controller wasnt being detected twice, rather it was two components. somewhat confusing, but everything is working now.
