Hello all,

I have had a pop up recently come up on my machine showing the address ad.yieldmanager.com
I have searched a few forums for advice but haven't actuallgot aywhere as all the software required requires payment to use and i'm reluctant to give out card details to random sites recommended by random internet posts.
Is there a free way of going about locating this infected part of a program and eliminating it?
:)
Thanks
Rob

as far as I know yiedmanager is a tracking cookie provider.
i.e they are used by many websites to install tracking cookies when the site is visited.

They are not normally a problem, and are easily removed by most Free tracking cookie scanners e.g. Spyware terminator AVG Free and several others.

But just in case run a scan with hijack-this and post the results.

Ok, no obvious problems, except perhaps the SCHEDULER.EXE running in the background, as it is unknown which program uses it...

O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe

and this one is unknown to me as well:

O22 - SharedTaskScheduler: EsozoniuMsu - {030AB8DB-A37C-4A28-AA47-48079571960E} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\esozoniu.dll

according to SuperAntiSpyware, this should be removed...

so I suggest you download both of the following and run scans on your system, the free versions will do:

SuperAntiSpyware

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Delete anything they find, run MBAM first with a quick scan then do a full scan...

thanks for the help - i'll give it a go tonight.

fox7hr5,

Did you get your issue cleared up? I doubt it was anything serious, but has it gone away?

Another thing you could check into as well would be a good ad blocker or pop-up blocker, or simply tweaking your cookie/privacy settings on whatever web browser you're using.

Also, if you don't have a software firewall installed, I'd look at Online Armor or Comodo Internet Security to help keep any such stuff from getting installed in the first place.

Hi,
yes it worked thanks. I also went into the registry to check out any instances of the ad.yield manager and got rid of those too.

cheers for your help.

electronicsfreak,

Thanks for that link. I've probably seen it before, but I don't recollect it. It's worth a read.
