We have implmented AD2003 here and, thanks to all the help from many here, things are going well.
Problem we now have is, Windows Installer no longer works on any XP machines, but its fine on W2K. Whenever you run an MSI file you get a message "windows installer service could not be accessed. this can occur if you are running in safe mode or if the windows installer is not installed correctly. contact support..."
Something in the policies is causing this, but when i look at the policy all the stuff in the windows installer section is not configured.
any ideas ?
Also, our domain policy is set to not configured for password expiration policy. When we were in an NT4 environment with no password policy this never occured. a good number of our pc's are all the sudden telling clients there password will expire in (number) days. why does this happen ? We are going to change the domain policy to disabled for the password expiration to solve it, but what makes this type if thing happen and could it be the reason for the Windows INstaller errors ?
Thanks,
