If I have SERVER1 with 2 drives DRIVEA and DRIVEB which are software mirrored by Win2000 and I have an uncorrupt version of . Then I break the mirror, remove DRIVEB put in DRIVEC and recreate the mirror. Then 1 day later Active Directory becomes corrupt and replicates across the mirror and to my other domain controllers. Can I then take all domain controllers off-line (or not), remove DRIVEA and DRIVE C from SERVER1 and replace them with a stand-alone DRIVEB (with the uncorrupt AD database) without any problems and rebuild my other DCs (with new names) and replicate AD from DRIVEC? I'm just wondering if this can be used for a disaster recovery situation.

That is a possible soultion for disaster recovery, but you will need the 2k3 Server Dcpromo.exe which will allow you to forcefully demote the other domain controlers. You wouldn't need to rebuild the other Dc. Just Dcpromo them back to member servers. This is not the best way to do it though.

You can forcefully demote with SP4 on W2k.

Yes this can be used for DR and you will need to demote all of the servers before introducting this new drive. Or mark the entire tree as authoritative a few times to make sure the version number is increased sufficiently.
