As long as AD/LDAP server is reachable from the MiCollab and accessible via the port then it should be all OK.
Don't see any reason why it shouldn't work.
What's the current release and upgrade release?
In case if you do -
SSH into MiCollab Console and ping to AD Server to see if you have connection (assuming ICMP is allowed).
If you can, then telnet AD/LDAP IP : port and see if it connects.
If you can't connect via telnet then it more likely a firewall/port issue.
If you can then probably credential error, check logs ldap/current
