I don't know if this is the right place for this. If not please direct me to the right Forum.
I'm a novice when it comes to AD and SUS so please bare with me. The system was setup and then turned over to me to mange. I have gone through the FAQ and nothing has worked to solve my problem. So here is a description of the system and the problem.
I have a Window 2000 server running AD and SUS. I have 120 systems on the network. All are included in the AD and have a SUS policy linked to the AD directory they reside in. I would say that 75% of the machines are affected by the policy. It grays out their automatic update buttons on the local machine and they get the update from the SUS server. 25% of the machine still have the automatic updates buttons active and try to get the updates from Microsoft.
I have one user I have been testing on. He had two windowsupdate.log files one stopped on 9/22/04 and the AU-SUS was working up till then. It has started a new Windows update. log since and does not work. I ran the gpresults and the Reg query: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate" /s
and found it was missing any reg entrees for WU so I add them in. This didn't help.
We have since remove the computer from AD and Added in back in but it still won't work. It trys to go out and update but doesn’t get anything. Here is the log file:
