AD replication problem.

I have just added a second domain controller, DC2 on a new site(site2) in the domain company.com. All appeared to have worked ok, the DC put itself into the correct site and all AD objects are viewable from it etc.

I have set up an IP link and added both site1 and site2 to it and scheduled the replication. On checking to see if worked, I found that DC2 on site2 had received changes I made on DC1, site1 but not vice versa. Replmon confirmed that there was a successful replication, only in that direction. Event log on DC1 is giving 1311 and 1566 errors.

Also, if I view Sites and Services snap-in on DC1, no connection objects are visible between DC1 and DC2. If I manually wake up the KCC for DC1 it checks the topology but no connections are added. If I do this for DC2, I get the error “the active directory property can not be found in the cache”

Now, on viewing the Sites and Services snap in on DC2, there is a connection object under DC2’s NTDS settings but still not under DC1’s. I can wake up the KCC for both of these with no errors, but nothing added.

Not sure if this is relevant but if I ask Replmon to check Bridgehead servers, for site2 it says DC2, but for site1 it says “the domain controller was contacted successfully but the list of bridgehead servers returned zero” I have tried manually making DC1 the preferred bridgehead server for that site, same result.

Any help much appreciated, I’m quite new to all this and am stumped!!
Thanx
