AD Replication Issues (being caused by DNS problems)

I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I have some active directory replication issues that I believe are being caused by a DNS problem, so my goal is to solve the DNS problem and hopefully that will work the rest of it out.

I'm getting 2 different DNS entries for my SDC (opal). The first entry (192.168.114.5) is correct and is coming from the IP on the 10/100 network adapter. The second entry (192.168.114.151) is coming from the PPP adapter RAS interface.

I've delete the additional entry from the DNS server a couple times but it always pops back up again.

Any time I try to do a name resolution for opal it returns the PPP adapter IP, and consequently none of the network shares or services are accessible across that interface. It can't find the RPC server to replicate AD changes and so on and so forth.

Has anybody else out there run across this issue or have a possible solution for me? Thanks.

Verify the following DNS configuration:

DNS Settings

Set all static NIC TCP/IP properties to only list internal DNS servers.

In DHCP set the DNS setting to internal DNS servers.

In DNS, configure ISP DNS on the forwarders tab.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
