AD Replication - Best Practice Question

Guys,

We've recently implemented a 4 site and 4 domain controller(one per site) AD infrastructure. Replication is working fine but as the question suggests, I would just like to ask a 'best practice' question to ensure the most efficient replication.

Sites A,B,C and D all have any-any connectivity via an MPLS cloud, hence I have added them all to just the one IP site Link. However, sites A and B additionally have a dedicated 100Mbs LES connecting them(B is our DR site). As that link is far faster than the cloud, it makes sense I think to create another site link with a lower cost than the first, and add sites A and B to it. Firstly, would that be the correct thing to do, and if so, should I then also remove one of those sites from the initial site link or leave them both in there?

Many Thanks in advance
jR

Create the link and give the fast link the lower cost/metric. Leave both links available. Your replication will choose the lowest cost and use the fast link. Should your fast link go down, then the next lowest cost link will be used. This method lets you use the link you wish (based on cost) but also gives you the option of another route should the prefered link go down.

Start, Help. You'll be surprised what's there. A+/MCP/MCSE/MCDBA
