Having issue where logging into an AD mobile account that is disconnected from network with airport enabled takes 10 minutes. With airport disabled, it logs in quickly. Obviously its trying to use the airport. Any way to force OSX to only use ethernet connection for this?

Turn off Airport! Open the Network panel in System Preferences and turn off Airport. The system can't use it if it is off...

Is your wireless access point part of your network or is using a 192.168.xxx.xxx?
I had issue connecting to network shares using 192. vs our private network 10.3 so I changed the routers to just access points that don't issue DHCP (belkins are great for this). I use this for all our private wifi connections and 192.168s for all public wifi
This allows our staff to access everything via wifi with no issue of AD
