I have a windows 2003 server, running IIS. and i have setup FTP using the active directory isolation.

Change the directories and the root folders is not the problem here. I have those all set and they are working locally.

My problem is I can FTP using the cmd line ftp client built into windows. I cannot however use any ftp program other then the command line utility.

In other words. If i am on the local machine and i ftp to the machine with IE 7.0. it works and everything is there.
When i am outside on a different machine FTPin using IE 7.0 it times out and i get nothing and i cannot connect to the ftp. However if i use the cmd line FTP client built in on the outside, i can connect and do everything i am supposed to.

Really weird thing going on here. Works on the inside and partially works on the outside.

Any thoughts?

From the other IE machine, you might want to check, Tools, internet options, advance and make sure enable ftp folder view is checked and also use passive ftp is also checked.
