Hello,
I have 2 w2k3 and 1 W2k DC`s (just added the 3rd one)
I want to demote the 2000 box and bring domain functional level to 2003 native mode (all roles are transfered from 2k box). The thing is that DNS on the 2k box was always the primary DNS for our workstations and our DHCP runs on a Novell box (sigh)and it would give me a bit of breathing space if DNS will still work on the demoted member server. The DHCP scopes have been changed so the workstations will see a secondary DNS but some devices have been hard coded with the ip address of the old server so you see my problem.Im thinking that it wont work because it is AD integrated zone so replication wont work. There are a few other things on the old DC thats why i cant just throw it away just yet.
Thanks for any tips
Gary.

On old win2000 server setup DNS server without zones and add to forwarders list your win2003 DC IP address. All DNS requests to this old server then will be forwarded to your AD integrated DNS server.
