Ad-hoc query from a switchboard

If I have a switchboard form for the user to select task items from, can I have an item that opens a new query design window? I want to allow the user to construct an ad-hoc query.

If this is possible, what technique/code do I use behind the switchboard item to make it open a new query in design mode?

DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdNewObjectQuery will open the design window
