Having a problem with Ad Hoc, or RAS, acting very strangely. Users want to be able to click on a report and select "ad hoc" as their option. The users in question have full access to the reports in that folder, however, sporadically it will prompt them for a DB logon? And other times it will not. This behavior may occur for the same report in the same session.

It looks as though when the Ad Hoc viewer is called a DHTML DB logon is called and then the Crystal Control DB logon box appears. We cannot figure out why it will prompt only sometimes and only for given reports.

We have installed the RAS Weekly patch, but this only seemed to help somewhat.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or know of a fix?

Cheers!

Is it possible that you are running out of database connections? We had an issue that whereby we had plenty of CE licenses, but not enough database licenses because Crystal was keeping the database sessions open longer than we expected... (as long as 20 minutes!) You might want to monitor that.

If Crystal can't log in, it will challenge over and over until you put in the right username/password.
