I am trying to find out the license policy for using ad-aware from Lavasoft company. From their web site, it states:

"Free for non-commercial use only."
"For use in a commercial/educational/governmental environment or to purchase a registered copy of Ad-Aware and/or RegHance, click here."

We are an non-profit health care organization. Normally, we are in the same group as educational institution. I also know we could be considered as non-commercial user.

It will cost us about $600-$800 for 20+ licenses (about $30 per license). Should we purchase or not purchase ad-aware licenses?

I sent an e-mail to Lavasoft customer service center a couple days ago regarding this question and havn't received anything yet. If you have any suggestions on how to handle this situation, please share with me. Your time and help would be greatly appreciated.

I would say since you are non-profit, you should be legal to download and use the Lavasoft product. You are a non-profit health care organization and that would fall under the Free for non-commercial use, I believe.

Plus, there are other tools that do a far better jobs than Adware such as Spybot and Microsoft Antispyware that are free for use. Antispyware is free for all.

I agree with Erik, after some recent actions by Lavasoft I would strongly recommend looking into Spybot or MS Beta (both, additionally, provide methods to prevent re-infection).
