Not really a virus killer, but the latest version of Ad-Aware was released recently. Also as a note, there was an immediate re-release to upgrade the engine from version 160 to 162.

If you don't use Ad-Aware , I suggest it and Spybot Search and Destroy. Both are great tools for removing bad cookies, spyware, etc... Terry

Use both. I've been using Spybot and after running Ad-Aware 6.0 it found Xupiter files left over from Spybot. Both are updated frequently.

It must work. First I ran spybot then Ad-Aware and found more. iSeriesCodePoet

I agree...they both work well....together they are great. Kimber

The more I learn,I realize how much more there is to know!

This new version finds more "ads" than the older version did. I ran the older version just before uninstalling it and installing ver. 6. Ver. 6 found 30 more "ads."
This version also includes the Ref Update program with it so you can get reference updates easier.

One little thing I found that I didn't like. Ad-Aware 6.0 found a registry key. I in my haste, naivety, stupidity, etc allowed it to remove it. It was my proxy setting to access the internet from work. I was fine until I closed my browser. Next time, I couldn't get out...[curse]

Just a warning, make sure you look at what it finds and select only those you actually want removed. Terry

Terry,
[tab]Ad-aware has a setting that allows you to restore a key for just such an occasion. Check your archives. James P. Cottingham

Thanks James, I was able to reset it fairly quickly. But I didn't think about that "restoral" feature. Would have been faster than I did it... Terry
