AD Authentication plugin could not authenticate at this time

Approximately three times a week I need to reboot the server on which I have installed CE10 because the CMS service "hangs". It can not be stopped/restarted and the users created from our Active Directory are unable to log in to ePortfolio. They get the following message:
"The Active Directory Authentication plugin could not authenticate at this time".

The only way to correct the problem at the moment is to reboot the server. Obviously this isn't ideal!
There are no backups of any kind happening at the time. The Event System and Application Viewers don't have any errors or warnings, nor does the MS SQL Server 2000 log.

I have logged the incident with Business Objects but they don't seem to know what to do next. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Mel,

Did you ever get this resolved? Am I right in assuming that your server was part of a cluster?

Hi,
Is the CMS server running under an account with full rights to the Database?

Have you checked with the AD administrator when this happens to see if something happened to the Tree or Domain?

There are two CE servers clustered in a production environment. The master and slave machines run under the same account, which has full rights to the database.

The user accounts are SSO enabled using AD authentication. If a user tries to log on to either machine, the error that Mel referenced gets returned. If I switch the APS off on the slave machine, they can log in successfully. But, naturally, that means no cluster. And that is not cool.

I mentioned the issue to BO, and got the telephone equivalent of a blank stare, so if you've got any ideas here, I'd love to hear them.

Hi,
Just to check..Both CMS services are configured to connect to the SAME database, correct?
