I have no idea where to put this post or if anyone can help cause its a weird one.....
Server running 2008
Client running XP Pro
pesky DVR system JPEG2000 DVR
Generic user "Bob Smith"
Just for starters, everything works fine and is up and running without errors or conflicts that I have seen. That said, I have a Computer named bobsmith in AD and a user with bobsmith.our-name.com who's IP is 192.168.0.5. I have the DVR system statically set to .100. I can ping both fine but when I do a tracert to .100 it shows up as this:
1 <1ms <1ms <1ms bobsmith.our-name.com [192.168.0.100]
and when I do another tracert to .5 it shows this:
1 <1ms <1ms <1ms bobsmith.our-name.com [192.168.0.5]
If I ping or tracert bobsmith.our-name.com it comes back with what I would expect of .5.
Anyone know why my DVR thinks its name is that? There is no way in my knowledge to even change its name on the DVR side and there is no entry in AD for it outside of an exclusion for its IP in DHCP.
Any ideas are welcome
