Equipment:
I have a 24 port AD-64 running on a Dell 280GX with Windows Server 2003.
The PBX is a NEC 2400IPX with MCI integration, i don't believe this would be have anything to do with the problem but I figured I would throw it in here.

Problem:
The voiceserver.exe process runs at 98-99% at all times.
Rebooting the server clears the problem for a few weeks.

Anyone come across this?

If this is the VM CPU running at capacity, then it is not normal. It suggests that the VM is in constant use. I suggest you check to see if the VM was hacked. Look for any international out dial codes, or 9 specified. Check all unused mail boxes as well. A reset clears out any out dialing temporarily until they get back in and start using it again.

The voice mail server is not connected to the internet.
There are times when all ports are idle yet the CPU is still at 100%.
The amount of traffic has not changed.

Getting hacked has nothing to do with the internet. All they need is access to the main greeting via the central office trunking. The same way you call in to retrieve your messages.

Run a mailbox usage report. Look for unused mailboxes or any that do not belong. Delete them.
