Hi!

I used AcuCobol in a UNIX/AIX environmet around mid 90's an found it very good, so now when i need a Cobol compiler for Linux, for personal use, I wonder how much is't? I will use it in connetion whit a personal project on lerning Linux and have to pay for it myself, so the chepest one user licens is preferd. I could do whit a evaluation copy that has other limts than 30 days or so, don't think I will fully learnd in a limited time.

On the older SuSE distributions, AcuCOBOL is included! Not a full versions, but enough for personal use.

It is well hidden as part of the Adabas-D database. I have SuSE 6.0. When you select and install Adabas the AcuCOBOL part is installed as well. Later I installed SuSE 6.3 and I noticed that the AcuCOBOL part is included, but not installed automaticly. I do not know about the newer versions of SuSE.

Lot of "old" SuSE distro's on the 2nd hand market....

ACUcobol is included untill SuSE6.4. I've been playing with it lately.
I've updated my laptop computer to SuSE 7.2 and due to a newer version of GLIBC acucobol does not work anymore. Something to do with the licence....

So, install SuSE 6.x, use acucobol and be happy!
